You may have heard that fitness is a journey. In light of that statements I have prepared a few destinations along this journey that will help you get results. Get ready because here we go!
1st Stop: Feel the Love Town
You cannot sustain a lifestyle you hate for very long. A healthy lifestyle with exercise and eating right needs to be moving in the direction of enjoyment. You’ve got to love what you are doing, you’ve got to love the direction you are going, you’ve got to feel the love for yourself to get ever lasting results.
2nd Stop: Zero Miracle Boulevard
Truth be told, getting results takes work. You’ve got to plan and practice on a consistent basis to get results. There are no miracle pills or magic solutions no matter what a celebrity tells you. Consistent effort and a positive attitude is the only true method. Don’t believe in short cuts or miracle methods, potions or pills; believe in your own efforts.
3rd Stop: Up and Over Mountain
Understand that this is a process unlike anything else, it’s a process of making life changes and that means obstacles will arise. Being successful means understanding that you will run into problems, snags, even plateaus and yes you will make mistakes. Overcoming obstacles and not succumbing to them is how you win. Some obstacles are obvious like a weekend bender in Vegas, others are not always easy to spot like your own perfectionist attitude. If you are hitting an obstacle especially one of your own making head back to Feel the Love Town, it’s likely you didn’t spend enough time there. In short – GET OVER IT and keep moving on.
4th Stop: Reflection Island
The only person you need to compare yourself to is yourself. Not your friends not the magazine models, certainly not the Jones’. This isn’t about them, it’s about you, and so as long as you are striving to be just a tiny bit better than you were last week that’s all you need to worry about.
5th Stop: The You parade (In Feel The Love Town)
For every accomplishment, you’ve got to reward celebrate and even once in a while flaunt it off. No matter how small of an accomplishment you need to train your brain to understand if you do these awesome things you’re going to show some love. If you planned to workout 4 times this week and you did it, throw a parade, if you lost 20lbs throw a parade, if you ate 5 servings of veggies, throw a parade, if you came back from that 10day tropical booze fest of a vacation and didn’t gain any fat, throw a freakin parade! Do this and you’ll be in “Feel The Love Town” yep right back to where it all began. I hope now you see that there is not single destination to results, because living a fit and healthy lifestyle has no end it’s a continual journey that starts with loving yourself and what you do and recycles with a celebration of your own efforts and accomplishments time and time again.
